Off-Campus Module
Usually, the 3rd semester of the degree program is spent off-campus in order to provide students with the opportunity for more individual specialization and practical experience.
The knowledge and skills acquired in the first two Master's semesters on the issues, methods and instruments of Urban and Spatial Planning can be applied, reflected upon, discussed, further developed and documented in a practical and/or academic context.
The module also opens up options as a "stepping stone" into professional life (e.g. through practical contacts, first research projects, networking in an international context) and can inspire ideas for the Master's thesis in the following semester. There are three basic options to choose from:
(1) a semester abroad,
(2) a work placement in Germany or abroad (research institute, planning office, administration) or
(3) on-site studies in rural areas or in an urban context with local cooperation partners.
Lecturers from the Department of Urban and Spatial Planning at FHE act as your mentors during the off-campus module. You will receive intensive individual guidance and support on subject-related, organizational and individual issues in connection with your work placement, your on-site studies or your semester abroad.
