The Master's degree program enables students to continue their studies in both interdisciplinary and specialized fields. The following specializations are offered:
- Nature Conservation, Environmental Planning and Cultural Landscape Development
- Open Space Planning and Garden Heritage Management
- Planning and Construction in Landscape Architecture
Course contents
During the Master's in Landscape Architecture, you will acquire additional knowledge and skills that will qualify you for career-specific areas of work and managerial roles in this professional field.
Depending on your interests, you can choose to focus on one of the three areas of specialization or combine courses in different specializations.
Collaborative projects also provide newcomers to the discipline with an opportunity to gain fundamental expertise in landscape architecture.
In addition to gaining specialist knowledge, you can also expand your existing key skills, such as presentation techniques or interdisciplinary work.
Program objectives
During the Master's in Landscape Architecture, you will expand your knowledge and skills of the profession.
This will enable you to develop creative and interdisciplinary solutions to complex problems. That includes skills in analytical thinking as well as functional and process-oriented approaches at various planning levels.

Specializations
Building on the foundations acquired in your Bachelor's degree program, you will broaden your knowledge in the Master's by applying it to specific professional fields.
In order to graduate in one of the specializations, you must take at least 5 of the 6 modules offered in the specialization of your choice. The following specializations are on offer:
- Nature Conservation, Environmental Planning and Cultural Landscape Development
- professional implementation of international environmental conventions, environmental guidelines
- nature conservation in the international and regional context of sustainable development of cultural landscapes in both rural and urban areas. - Open Space Planning and Garden Heritage Management
- in-depth development of skills in open space planning, e.g. in the context of interdisciplinary cooperation
- confidence in dealing with historical spatial structures, e.g. in relation to garden heritage conservation
- detailed knowledge of processes related to building culture - Planning and Construction in Landscape Architecture
- increased skills in the development, maintenance and care of outdoor facilities
- vegetation management, e.g. in engineering biology and sports facility construction
- technical and economic competence, e.g. in construction management and implementation planning

The 4-semester Master's course includes compulsory cross-discipline modules, modules in a variety of specializations and additional elective modules, and ends with the submission of a Master's thesis.
The module overview clearly outlines the timeframe and structure of the curriculum.
In the module catalogue, the individual modules are described in relation to competences, i.e. with reference to "qualification objectives" and "content".
Entry requirements
The general admission requirement is a Bachelor's or "Diplom" degree in Landscape Architecture or related subject areas with a minimum grade of "Gut" (German grade 2).
You can compensate for a lower final grade ("Befriedigend" / German grade 3) if your final thesis was of above average quality or if you already have relevant professional experience.
Admissions from applicants who have obtained their degree outside the scope of the German Higher Education Framework Act (HRG) and whose grading system is not comparable must be approved by the examination board.
This also applies to applicants who have an undergraduate degree in a related subject as defined in paragraph 1.
