Software for students
Many software companies offer licences with special conditions for students. Please refer to the manufacturers' websites for more information.
Some FH Erfurt licence agreements allow students to use the software privately on their own end-user devices.
Note for first-semester students and those changing degree programs:
For some products, use/registration/login is only possible from the beginning of the semester.

All members of the university can also use the virus scanner on all their private devices.

ArcGIS
You can use Esri's ArcGIS software free of charge.
Your Esri instructor or fthe departmental administrators of your faculty can provide you with an accoun. You can obtain your Esri student licence via the ArcGIS online portal https://fh-erfurt.maps.arcgis.com. You can then download the installation file for ArcGIS Pro (desktop version) in your Esri account from the ArcGIS Online portal of FH Erfurt.
The download link for the installation file is a bit difficult to find:
- click on the user icon or the user name at the top right
- select "My settings" ("Eigene Einstellungen") in the context menu that opens
- click on "Licences" ("Lizenzen") in the left-hand column of the website that opens
- use the "Download" ("Herunterladen") link next to "ArcGIS Pro"
The installation file contains all extensions.
Please note: This licence can only be used for non-commercial purposes on the students' private computers.

Citavi enables you to collect, edit and save literature references, compile bibliographies and insert literature citations into your own documents..
From now on, students, full-time lecturers and staff of FH Erfurt can use this efficient software for their studies, teaching and research at work and on their private computers free of charge according to the terms of the licence.

The licence agreement with MathWorks covers the use of MATLAB and all toolboxes for teaching and non-commercial research on all FHE computers and includes home use rights for all staff and students.

You have access to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, which offers both free and premium services.
Microsoft "Azure Dev Tools for Teaching" are intended exclusively for use on the private end-user devices of staff and students for the purpose of preparing for and following teaching / lessons under the terms of the licence.
Any use extending beyond this is not permitted.

For the duration of the state contract with Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, each student is provided access to the latest version for local download and can install and use these products on several of their own end-user devices.
Installation of these products is only permitted on private end-user devices.

Padlet is a web-based tool for creating digital pinboards for collaborative work.
The University of Applied Sciences Erfurt has a campus contract. The tool can be used by all members of the university.
