VPN for remote work

VPN enables you to access FHE resources when working remotely with your work computer as if you were actually on campus.

If you only need certain types of access (e.g. searching databases in the university library), check in advance whether this is already possible using edu VPN.

You don't need a specific form to request VPN access. Just send an email to the Service Desk stating why you want to use it and which system you are using (Windows, MacOS). You will then receive your personal access data by in-house mail.

To use VPN, you will need to install the software. Your departmental administrator will help you with this. For staff working in areas managed by the University Computer Centre, this software is automatically installed.

Installation instructions

To use VPN, you need the software NetExtender by Sonicwall

No further information is required for the installation.

To set up the connection, you will need the IP address and your personal VPN access. You will receive this data by in-house mail.

Please note:

  1. You can only set up your VPN connection outside the FHE network (this includes eduroam).
  2. An IPv4 address is required to set up and use a VPN. Some providers only issue such an IPv4 address if requested.
