Strategy for preventing radicalization
Recognize. Understand. Respond.
Fachhochschule Erfurt is committed to actively and vigorously promoting the equality and equal treatment of all people from all walks of life and expressly rejects the exclusive worldview of inequality held by radicalized forces. The aim is therefore to implement a long-term strategy to prevent radicalization so as to sustainably shape university life and establish our campus as a cosmopolitan centre of learning and research that embraces diversity.
An important part of this strategy is to support all members of the university who experience or witness discrimination, exclusion, violence and the dynamics of radicalization. You can find advice and support at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt and also from our external support network on discrimination, radicalization and violence here.
Equal opportunities in our mission statement
As underlined in our mission statement, Fachhochschule Erfurt views equal opportunities, equal participation, diversity and inclusion within the context of social change and considers itself responsible for creatively participating in the associated transformation processes as a university.
We value diversity as a way of enriching our degree programs, teaching and research: The diversity of our students, lecturers, researchers, administrative staff and technicians means that we are able to draw on a wide range of skills, perspectives and experiences as we continue to develop as a university.
In its mission statement, Fachhochschule Erfurt also affirms its responsibility as a globally minded and tolerant university to resolutely oppose all forms of discrimination and extremism.
"Shaping Diversity"
By participating in the Stifterverband's “Shaping Diversity” audit, Fachhochschule Erfurt has taken the first decisive step towards officially becoming a university of diversity by encouraging university-wide dialogue and working on sustainably and strategically embedding diversity in our university's structures.
It focuses on three main areas:
- diversity-sensitive university culture – making diversity visible and promoting awareness
- diversity on campus & inclusive teaching – promoting accessibility and inclusion
- prevention & diversity-friendly processes – reducing and preventing the risk of discrimination
For more sustainability
As an educational and research institution, Fachhochschule Erfurt is aware of its special responsibility for helping to pave the way for a more sustainable society..
We aim to live up to this responsibility by stepping up our contribution to achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and intensifying our commitment to greater sustainability in our own operations as well as in teaching, research and knowledge transfer. Our specific goal is to become a climate-neutral university by 2030.
The Sustainability and Carbon Neutrality team is responsible for coordinating sustainability management, serving as a central point of contact for projects and initiatives related to sustainability, and working with all stakeholders to develop a sustainability strategy.
