Properties of materials and how these relate to the condition of the material are measured.

• Non-destructive materials testing - ultrasound/ ionizing radiation
• Testing impact strength/brittleness behaviour
• Metallography and the iron-carbon diagram
• Tensile testing on steel; strength properties
• Hardness testing on steel
