These laboratories are used by the Department of Traffic and Transportation for the Railway Engineering programs, in particular for:
- lectures
- tutorials
- colloquiums
- practicals
- projects
- research
Demonstrations and software specific to Railway Engineering
- RailSys (RMCon International): simulation of railway operations for the technical and operational planning of rail traffic
- FBS (iRFP e.K. - Institute for Traffic Planning Systems): Scheduling, optimization of vehicle circulation, resource planning
- Planning and scheduling system (Trapeze Group Deutschland GmbH)
Simulation of railway operations in the field of dispatching
This laboratory houses a training system for dispatchers ("Travis" operating simulation by Scheidt & Bachmann System Technik GmbH), which links the simulation with local operations management at the technical college in Gotha. It is therefore possible to depict current railway operations in Germany under laboratory conditions with the networked but spatial separation of dispatching and railway operations management.
