Occasional and Affiliate Students
As an occasional student, you can attend courses at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt without having to complete a full degree course. Occasional students are not bound by age restrictions or complicated admission requirements. You simply have to prove that you have sufficient education to participate, and there must also be enough space in the courses. Refugees are very welcome to join us as occasional students!
As an affiliate student, you can take part in courses and exams at the University of Applied Sciences while already enrolled at another institution of higher education.
Important information for affiliate students

You remain enrolled at your current university and are enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt as an "affiliate student".
- You attend courses together with other students at the university
- You do not receive a "semester ticket" (exception: students who do not live in Thuringia can obtain a semester ticket for a fee)
- You are eligible to take exams

Affiliate students can take part in our courses free of charge.

After submitting the application, you will receive your university account details and email address by post or digitally.
Please note that you have to submit a new application every semester!
In order for you become an affiliate student, you must already be enrolled at another university and the degree program or individual courses you have chosen to take with at FH Erfurt must have sufficient capacity.

- Valid certificate of enrolment at another institution of higher education
In order to extend your status as an affiliate student, you only need to submit your application and certificate of enrolment from your current university.

Important information for occasional students

You will be enrolled with "occasional student" status and receive a special occasional student ID card.
- You attend university together with other students
- You can be issued with confirmation that you have taken part in the courses
- You cannot take examinations
- You do not receive the semester ticket
- You can take part in language courses (with certificates)
- You can attend lectures and seminars to find out more about degree subjects and what they entail
- You meet other students
- Other students are there to provide assistance

The fee for occasional students is 100 euros per semester.
Refugees can be occasional students free of charge.

Once you have paid the fee and submitted your application, you then become an occasional student. You will then receive your university account details and email address by post or digitally. Please note that you have to submit a new application every semester!
