Support for young academics
One of the key aspects of our efforts to promote gender equality is to support women in all phases of their academic careers and provide them with access to career networks as early as possible. Particular emphasis is placed on the so-called STEM subjects – at our university these include the departments of Applied Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Forestry, Building Services Engineering and Traffic and Transportation.

Diversity Meets Academia - Thesis Award
The Thuringian Competence Network for Gender Equality awards the “Diversity Meets Academia” prize for theses examining gender or diversity issues. In doing so, it not only supports students and young academics, but also helps to raise awareness of the variety of topics covered by gender and diversity research at Thuringian universities.
Graduates and young academics from all departments at Thuringian universities can apply. The award comes with a prize of €2,000.
Workshops for female STEM students
A series of workshops entitled “weiblich.kompetent.erfolgreich” (“female.competent.successful”) is run by the Thuringian Coordination Office for Science and Technology to support female STEM students at Thuringian universities in developing career plans during their studies. Students can attend free of charge.
